SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Safety Events on High Terrain Scenarios- An Aircraft Performance Perspective\, by Jose Rui Godoy
DESCRIPTION:José Rui Godoy will be presenting a few of the noteworthy incidents/accidents involving high terrain scenarios\, and highlight the challenges posed by aircraft performance limitations for safe flight in mountainous terrain. He will also bring some revision of concepts on the Enroute performance planning as needed to explain the cases. \nJose will cover the following in the presentation: \n1) Review of concepts \n2) Examples of high terrain scenarios worldwide (airports and routes) \n3) Incident 1: Engine fire during a climb in Denver \n4) Incident 2: Aircraft depressurization over the Andes \n  \nAbout the speaker \n \nJosé Rui Godoy is an experienced Flight Operations Engineer with12 years of experience in the aviation industry dedicated to Flight Operations\, with a BSc degree in Aeronautical Engineering and an Advanced Masters’s in Airline Operations. After working 6 years in Embraer with Aircraft Performance and software development\, Godoy moved from Brazil to Dubai in 2014 and joined 3Green to provide dedicated Flight Operations support and training to its customers in Europe\, the Middle East\, and Africa. From the eagerness to enable startup airlines and small operators to implement and manage EFB in a simple and cost-efficient way\, Godoy has founded Simpfly in 2020.

SUMMARY:Micro air vehicles applications and design
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Mr Bikalpa Bomjan Gurung \nBio: MSc Aerospace\, IIT Kharagpur (2021) / Former Flight Operations Engineer\, Buddha Air Pvt Ltd \nSynopsis \nMicro Air Vehicles (MAVs) are small Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) designed specifically for short-duration missions in hostile environments in which stealthy operations are required. MAVs typically have a maximum dimension of 15 cm and weigh less than 90g as suggested\nby the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in 1995. Since the inception of MAVs\, they have attracted attention for both military and civil applications globally. In the seminar\, we will be presenting different applications and design approaches to these kinds of vehicles\, briefly touching upon the Aerodynamic Shape optimization method used to optimize the aerodynamic efficiency of delta wings for Micro Air Vehicles.
